Several years ago The Piano Company became a Fazioli

Authorized Dealer when Paolo Fazioli chose to honor its

commitment to musical education and expert technical

prowess, at the same time recognizing the growing

importance of Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia and the

entire surrounding area as a national cultural arts center.

We would like to share with you a tale which begins in the

‘enchanted’ red spruce forest of the Fiemme Valley area of

Northern Italy. The trees grown here are rare in all the world

because they are known for their unique quality of resonance.

From them will be made the soundboards for Fazioli pianos, just

as were the violins that Stradivarius had created centuries before.

This is why, through the years, these trees have become known

as the “Trees of Music". Because of the Val di Fiemme’s ideal

climate and growing conditions, violin-makers from Venice used to

come from far and wide to choose the sturdiest trees from which to

carve the sound boxes for their lutes; in 1978, when Paolo Fazioli

began constructing pianos with his team of technicians, acoustic

physicists, wood technologists, piano makers and pianists, it was a

natural choice to use “Trees of Music” to create the hauntingly

beautiful sounds which had not yet burst forth from instruments as

large as a piano.

Through experimentation, highly scientific testing, the utmost care

in producing not only the unique Fazioli soundboards but also the

beautifully finished piano cabinetry along with its 10,000 plus

moving parts, the Fazioli masters began to manufacture their

magnificent pianoforte in very limited numbers, having formed the

company formally in 1981.

The Economist magazine reported on June 7, 2003, that "some

artists believe that Fazioli now makes the best pianos in the

world."  (Louie Lortie, Angela Hewett and Herbie Hancock, to name

just a few current devotees.)

Six models are now in production at Fazioli Pianoforti, the largest

being the Fazioli 308 Concert Grand, which at 3.08 meters (10 ft 2

in) in length is the longest piano available on the general market.

Unique is the optional fourth pedal on the 308. This pedal, a

Fazioli creation, brings the hammers closer to the strings,

decreasing the volume while maintaining the correct tone.

Additionally, Fazioli manufactures one baby grand piano (5 ft 2 in),

two ideal home size pianos (6 ft) and (6 ft 11 in), a semi-concert

grand piano (7 ft 6 in), and two concert grand pianos, (9 ft 2 in)

and (10 ft 2 in).
